Virgin Games Sister Sites 2024
Monopoly Casino
Virgin Games is a big-name casino – anything carrying the Virgin name has to be big-time by default – but there are other big names among the Virgin Games sister site family. Gamesys Operations Limited is a high-profile casino network company with high-profile partners, and the casinos it operates are proof of that. Monopoly Casino is the perfect example of what we’re talking about. This casino site is an officially licensed product with permission to carry the name of the famous board game. More importantly than that from the point of view of players, it’s the best place to come if you enjoy playing Monopoly-themed casino games. There are plenty of them to choose from, and all of them are here. That doesn’t mean that Monopoly is a one-dimensional casino site, though – all the Monopoly games are here, but so are hundreds of others.
Monopoly Casino starts with slots but also offers players access to a full live casino, Slingo games, online poker, online bingo, and even a selection of free games that players can try before they decide whether they want to deposit any money with the site. Remember those categories because they’re going to come up a lot as we discuss the Virgin Games sister sites. A lot of these casinos are virtually identical in terms of content but have different themes. That means flitting between them can get a little samey, but the themes are entertaining, and the content is good. It’s the Monopoly Games that serve as the chief draw, though, and they include Monopoly: City Spins, Monopoly: Rising Riches, Monopoly: Bring the House Down and more. New Monopoly-themed casino games are released semi-regularly, and they turn up on this site before they turn up anywhere else.
If you’re new to Monopoly Casino, you’ll be welcomed to the site with an offer to deposit and play through £10 in return for either £50 of free bingo or thirty free spins on selected (Monopoly-themed) slots. It doesn’t tell you this on the Monopoly Casino homepage (which, from a regulatory point of view, it should), but the free spins and bingo tickets come with no wagering restrictions. Such a generous offer is a rare thing among UK-facing casino sites and ought not to be sniffed at. This isn’t the most glamorous of well-presented of the sites in the Virgin Games sister sites family, but it’s still a popular site themed around a much-loved brand and so will always attract players for that reason.
Jackpot Joy
It takes a special kind of casino site to be more popular than the officially-licensed casinos of brands like Virgin and Monopoly. JackpotJoy is that casino. This is the undisputed star of the Gamesys Operations Limited casino network, the leading light of the Virgin Games sister sites and the flagship of the family. It’s one of the best-known casino brands available to players in the UK and has been in that position for years. That’s thanks in no small part to the celebrities who’ve been paid to promote the casino on television. EastEnders legend and former Carry On star Barbara Windsor was the first, but when her health forced her to retire from performing, she passed the baton to the comedian Paddy McGuinness. He’s still the face of the JackpotJoy brand today and can often be seen promoting the brand in his blue tracksuit during commercials between your favourite TV shows.
Almost all of the Virgin Games sister sites have near-identical promotional packages, but JackpotJoy does the best job of explaining them at a glance. The offer is £50 of free bingo tickets or thirty free spins on the JackpotJoy slots in return for opening an account, depositing £10 and playing through that £10 within seven days of doing so. JackpotJoy makes several pledges to players along these lines, including the promise that withdrawals are always fee-free and that no wagering requirements will ever be applied to spins or bonuses. Again, this is consistently true throughout the Virgin Games sister sites range, but JackpotJoy does the best job of explaining the point.
When it comes to games, JackpotJoy prioritises bingo above online slots – but not much. Branded titles like the official bingo game of the Crystal Maze take pride of place, but originals like Session Bingo and Lounge Bingo are equally as popular. Classics rule the roost in the online slots collection, with the Rainbow Riches collection enjoying especially prominent placement. Some of these slots and games can be played every day for free, which gives players a good taste of what JackpotJoy has to offer and why it’s been such a big hit with UK players. Something that JackpotJoy doesn’t get as much recognition for as it perhaps should is its poker tournaments. Players don’t tend to think of it as a poker site, but it regularly stages big-money tournaments with cash pots of up to £100,000 available to the victors. Poker isn’t really a focus across the Virgin Games sister sites family, but if you enjoy playing the occasional hand, you’ll be best served at JackpotJoy on this network.
Rainbow Riches Casino
If you were to base an entire casino site on a single slots or casino game, you’d end up with a very niche, unpopular casino in the majority of cases. The fact that Rainbow Riches Casino isn’t thought of as a niche casino is an indicator of the incredible appeal of the Rainbow Riches brand. It came into being more than fifteen years ago when Barcrest came up with the very first Rainbow Riches casino game. Since then, it’s become a staple of the iGaming scene. The number of games in the Rainbow Riches family is now in excess of a dozen, with more planned for the future. Even players who never play online will be familiar with the Rainbow Riches logo because it’s often featured inside brick-and-mortar casinos as a way of attracting players to cabinets that offer it. It’s the most popular Irish-themed casino franchise in history. Given how many Irish-themed slots there are out there, that’s not a small achievement.
Rainbow Riches Casino was once one of the smaller casinos among the Virgin Games sister sites family but has grown in profile during the past twelve months thanks to the production and airing of the first-ever television commercial for the brand. You can see an image from it on the Rainbow Riches Casino homepage, with the Scooby Doo-style “Rainbow Hunter” van clearly visible. It’s a strange advert, but it gets across the idea that Rainbow Riches Casino ought to be the default choice for anybody who wants to play Rainbow Riches games online. Unsurprisingly you’ll find that each entry in the series is showcased effectively on the homepage of the site – and we’re not just talking about the famous online slots. We also mean the Rainbow Riches Slingo and Rainbow Riches Bingo games, along with a few more.
When it comes to promotions, Rainbow Riches Casino is actually a bit of a letdown compared to the other Virgin Games sister sites. You can get thirty free spins on Rainbow Riches with no wagering requirements attached by depositing and spending £10, but there’s no sign of the free bingo offer from JackpotJoy and Monopoly Casino (and, for that matter, Virgin Games). The other disappointment about Rainbow Riches Casino is the way the site is presented, with tiny, hard-to-read text and a dated design. Rainbow Riches Casino took a step up when it was promoted to “televised adverts” status, but that step up isn’t reflected by the design or appearance of the casino site. It could do with a major overhaul to bring it in line with the rest of the range – and Gamesys Operations Limited might want to take the opportunity to bring its welcome bonus in line with the rest of the family, too.
Double Bubble Bingo
Double Bubble Bingo is unlike the other Virgin Games sister sites because it’s a casino site with no big-brand connections. You’d have to know a thing or two about online slots to know why this casino is named the way it is. For those who don’t know, we’ll put you out of your misery. Double Bubble is the name of a mildly popular online slots game that was launched a few years ago and has since been followed up by a few sequels. None of them has ever broken through into the iGaming mainstream the way the Rainbow Riches games or the Monopoly games have, but they have a devoted following. Someone at Gamesys Operations Limited thought the following was substantial enough to justify creating a whole site themed around it, and so here’s Double Bubble Bingo. It’s a pink and green delight of a site, reflecting both the colours of the Double Bubble slot and the fact that the Double Bubble slot was based on a popular brand of bubble gum.
With this being a bingo site, it’s not surprising to see that the welcome offer at Double Bubble Bingo includes the free bingo games that are so noticeably missing at Rainbow Riches casino. In fact, Double Bubble Bingo offers what could potentially be the most generous welcome package in the Virgin Games sister site family, with a choice between £50 of free bingo or a while fifty free spins in return for the usual £10 deposit and play through after registering an account. Also available at Double Bubble Bingo are the same poker rooms that JackpotJoy offers access to, although they’re just as curiously understated and under-promoted here as they are there. Look above the poker games, and you’ll find a selection of games you can play for free, which includes Doubly Bubbly and a Rainbow Riches-themed free game called “Daily Rainbows.”
Double Bubble Bingo does what its name suggests it ought to do by putting bingo at the heart of everything it does. The most prominently-featured bingo room at the site is Candy Club, which is touted as being “created for you” and is exclusive to the site, as is the “Front Room.” Blox Bingo and Superlinks are also popular at Double Bubble Bingo but are available elsewhere in the range. If, on the other hand, you’ve come to the site because you want to play Double Bubble slots games, you won’t be disappointed. From classic Double Bubble to the recently-released Double Bubble: Bubble Pots Megaways, every game in the collection is here. That includes Double Bubble Jackpot, which often carries a prize pot in the six-figure range.
Virgin Games News
: This week, the latest blog across the Virgin Games sister sites addressed the old wives’ tale of slots being able to remember players. The article looks into the mechanics behind online slot games, shedding light on their random number generators (RNGs), which ensure each spin is completely independent and fair. Contrary to some beliefs, online slot games cannot store user data or adjust outcomes based on a player’s previous wins or losses. RNGs operate by producing unique sequences for each spin, meaning the software doesn’t rely on past results or individual player activity. Virgin Games emphasises that licensed platforms, like their own, are rigorously tested to guarantee randomness and fairness, ensuring every player has the same chances, whether they’re betting big or spinning casually.
The blog also tackles the widespread myth of “hot” and “cold” streaks in slots, debunking the notion that machines are programmed to alternate between high and low payout periods. Since RNGs determine outcomes without any memory of previous spins, these streaks are purely coincidental. Additionally, the misconception that only high-rollers can win jackpots is clarified. While larger bets may slightly improve odds for progressive jackpots, any qualifying bet has the potential to trigger the big win. While slots themselves don’t track individual actions, Virgin Games highlights that player activity is monitored at a casino level for security, tax purposes, and to support responsible gambling. Tools like deposit limits and session reminders are available to ensure players enjoy their time on the platform safely. The blog encourages readers to explore further myths about online slots and gain insight into how these games work. It’s a reminder that the thrill of slots lies in their unpredictability, with fairness at the forefront of every spin.
: On the 15th of November, Gambling.com helped online casino fans to get ready for ‘the ultimate games night at Virgin Games’. This relaunch of a previously popular event offers several activities and promotional offers designed to elevate the user experience, providing patrons with not just one but multiple dates to join in the fun, with subsequent events planned for December as well. The night promised a slew of rewarding opportunities, including the chance to win substantial cash prizes via daily jackpot games with boosted rewards between 3 pm and midnight, specifically for these game nights. Slots spinners will be particularly excited about the Slot Masters promotion, where more than £1,300 in cash prizes are up for grabs, ensuring there is ample incentive to participate.
Bingo players also have plenty of reasons to check out the ultimate game nights as a £5,000 Session Surprise was on offer, where bingo players could buy into an hour-long session for just £5! In addition to the full house prizes, participants could also win cash prizes by completing a line, two lines, or a full house on double numbers like 11 or 22. This session, scheduled between 7 pm and 8 pm, guaranteed a prize pot of £5,000, making it a highly anticipated part of the evening. Additionally, the ‘Triple the Bonus Prize’ bingo promotion, which ran between 8 pm and 10 pm, promised to triple any prizes won. Virgin Games’ association with Jackpotjoy also brought an extra dimension to the night, with Jackpotjoy hosting a live show in The Junction Chat room.
: The blogs attached to the Virgin Games sister sites are rapidly evolving into places where you can truly learn the art of iGaming. For example, Virgin Games recently published the ultimate themed slots guide. This comprehensive guide delves into the diverse world of themed slot games, exploring a variety of popular themes that enrich the online slot gaming experience. From ancient civilizations to modern-day leisure activities, Virgin Games offers an extensive suite of themed slots that cater to a wide range of interests and preferences. The guide starts by introducing the concept of themed slots, which are designed around specific topics or genres, making them more engaging for players. For instance, anglers can enjoy games like Fishin’ Frenzy and Big Bass Bonanza, which incorporate elements of the beloved pastime. These games are perfect for those who enjoy the thrill of the catch and feature engaging bonuses such as free spins and cash prizes.
For those with a penchant for Irish lore, the guide highlights games like Rainbow Riches, a longstanding favourite that offers numerous variations and the chance to win big through various game mechanics like Megaways and progressive jackpots. Meanwhile, ancient Egyptian slots such as Cleopatra and Book of Ra Deluxe allow players to explore historic themes with the chance to win treasures through free spins and special expanding symbols. Additionally, the guide touches on sports and music-themed slots, providing options for virtually every interest. Sports fans can engage with slots like Maradona, offering unique features like the Cash Collect and exciting bonus rounds.
: This week, Gambling.com assessed the poker games and promotions at Virgin Games, revealing its suitability for poker players. The review illuminates Virgin Games as predominantly slot-oriented, with occasional poker-specific promotions, highlighting a limited yet distinctive poker gameplay, including the unique Wild Seat Poker—a jackpot Texas Hold’em game—and recently introduced low-stakes cash games. However, it lacks broader poker variants and high-stakes play, aligning it with a casual rather than a professional poker player’s needs. Furthermore, the welcome package only caters to slot spinners and bingo lovers with free spins or bingo tickets, with no direct poker incentives. However, winnings from these can be utilised in poker games, indirectly benefiting poker engagement. Regular poker promotions are sparse but include unique entries like daily freerolls and community vault challenges.
Furthermore, the platform’s interface, underpinned by simplicity and ease of use, is highly appreciated by users for its seamless navigation and effective design, accentuated by Virgin’s characteristic red and white colour scheme. Both desktop and mobile experiences are robust, with the latter offering an intuitive, albeit singular, gaming session at a time. Virgin Games Poker also extends a range of payment methods, though it is slightly restricted compared to its competitors. The minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts are set at a feasible £10, with withdrawals typically processed within 1-3 business days, barring Apple Pay which does not support withdrawals. Gambling.com also mentions how Virgin Games places a strong emphasis on responsible gaming, offering various tools and self-exclusion options to promote safe gambling practices among its members.
: Having all of the correct contact information for an online company you pour your money into is vital, which is why websites such as P*ssed Consumer are crucial domains for online consumers. This week, they published the lowdown on customer care at Virgin Games. The analysis on P*ssed Consumer reveals that the most common method of contacting Virgin Games is by telephone, with approximately 70% of all queries handled this way. The optimal number for reaching out to Virgin Games is 08000831833, with Sunday noted for having the shortest waiting times, in contrast to Tuesday, which can see the longest delays. When calling, customers are advised to have their full names ready for identification purposes. Email communication is also common, accounting for about 30% of contacts, with support@virgingames.com being the primary email used by customers to resolve their issues.
Despite this variety of contact methods, the overall resolution of issues appears low, with many customers expressing dissatisfaction regarding various aspects of service ranging from account management to transaction problems. Customers frequently raise concerns about account issues such as locked or closed accounts and unauthorised charges. Queries about products or services typically relate to problems accessing games or delays in withdrawal processes. The content from P*ssed Consumer illustrates a pattern of frustration among users, with several negative reviews highlighting disappointment with the customer service received. It’s clear from the gathered data that while Virgin Games offers multiple channels for customer communication, there remains a gap in service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
: It’s easy to be blindsided by big brands and assume that online casinos connected to them will provide unbeatable quality. However, the Trustpilot review ratings for Virgin Games tell a very different story. With a TrustScore of only 1.5 out of 5, Virgin Games has garnered overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 64% of the reviews rated as ‘bad’. This alarming statistic reflects a broad dissatisfaction among its user base, which also affects the Virgin Games sister sites that operate under the same brand umbrella. Recent reviews on Trustpilot paint a grim picture of customer experiences. Players like Brandon Newman and Dee Everett express their frustration over what they perceive as unfair gaming practices and poor customer service. Newman details an incident where his account was abruptly closed after depositing money, and he has since been unable to regain access or retrieve his funds.
Everett, on the other hand, laments over the lack of wins and questions the integrity of the game’s random number generator, suggesting it should be urgently reviewed. However, as Virgin Games is regulated and licenced by the UK Gambling Commission, it is a stretch to assume that the online casino is rigged and simply serves to exploit its members. Sometimes, runs of bad luck can lead to players venting in such a manner; however, such complaints don’t seem to be standalone incidents. Other users like Robbie Lee and Suzie Chambers also describe experiences that led them to believe the games may be rigged. Lee recounts an unlikely scenario in blackjack where the dealer consistently drew aces, while Chambers calls for the company to be shut down due to its perceived greed and unfair practices.
: Virgin Games isn’t the only Virgin brand which is big on gaming. This week, it was announced that Virgin Media will be hosting a pop-up gaming event in Dublin. The event, named Virgin Media Playhouse, will take place on the 5th and 6th of July at the National Science Gallery in Dublin, celebrating National Play Week. This unique event combines elements of play and science to help adults reconnect with the joy and mental health benefits associated with play. Virgin Media aims to provide a break from the daily grind and encourage a playful mindset reminiscent of childhood. The Virgin Media Playhouse will be free to attend and feature various interactive sections designed to engage attendees. The Retro Arcade will offer a nostalgic trip back in time with classic arcade games like Mario and Pac-Man. Attendees can immerse themselves in the Trip of a Lifetime, a 360-degree 3D experience exploring Earth’s wonders.
The Dance Off area will combine rhythm and competition as participants try to match on-screen movements in dance battles. Football Challenge will test players’ football skills with a points-based competition, aiming to keep participants returning to secure top spots on the leaderboard. This event is part of Virgin Media’s broader initiative to promote mental well-being and social interaction through playful activities. By hosting such engaging and varied experiences, Virgin Media not only highlights its commitment to the gaming community but also provides a platform for people to unwind and enjoy themselves in a dynamic and supportive environment. The combination of nostalgia, innovation, and competition is designed to appeal to a wide audience, ensuring that everyone can find something to enjoy.
: If you are a member of the Virgin Games sister sites and you also use Virgin Media to stay connected and play your favourite casino games, you may want to follow the ‘game-changing’ advice recently published on Yahoo News. Virgin Media has highlighted some simple yet effective tips to help UK households achieve better broadband speeds from home without incurring additional costs for faster internet. Virgin Media suggests that a straightforward reboot of your router can significantly increase your internet speed. This involves turning your router off and then on again, a process known as power cycling. The company explained that this method helps clear the router’s memory and CPU of unnecessary data and processing, which can accumulate over time and slow down your connection. To reboot your router, locate the switch at the back of the Virgin Media Hub, turn it off, and wait for at least 10 seconds, though a minute is preferable.
During this time, inspect your equipment for any faulty or damaged cables, as these can also impact your network performance. Ensure all cables are securely fitted to the hub, being careful not to overtighten them to avoid damaging the connectors. Once you turn the router back on, it may take up to 10 minutes for everything to reboot and stabilise. During this period, avoid using the internet for critical tasks such as checking important emails or making video calls. After the restart, your connection should feel more stable. If the speeds are still not meeting your expectations, it may be worth checking for Wi-Fi issues.
: The Virgin brand, known for its dynamic approach in various sectors including gaming through platforms like Virgin Games, is making headlines yet again. This time, Virgin Media is offering an attractive promotion for both new and returning customers, demonstrating its commitment to providing value in times when the cost of living is a growing concern. In a recent update featured by The Sun, it was announced that customers opting for selected TV and broadband packages could get a free Nintendo Switch or a £200 bill credit. This promotion is part of Virgin Media’s strategy to offer periodic incentives that appeal to a wide variety of customers and potential customers. The Nintendo Switch, normally priced at around £259.99, is available with specific bundles such as the Bigger Combo bundle with Movies or Sports HD, the Biggest TV bundle, and various Mega TV options, including those with Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.
For those more interested in financial savings, the £200 bill credit provides a welcome reduction to monthly expenses, applying the credit across subsequent bills until fully used. Available only until the end of the week, this uniquely generous promotion encourages quick decision-making among consumers looking to improve their home entertainment system or alleviate some financial pressure. Virgin Media’s ability to blend cutting-edge tech offerings with practical financial benefits aligns with its broader mission of boosting customer satisfaction and loyalty during challenging economic times. Such promotions reinforce Virgin Media’s reputation as a company that genuinely cares about its customers’ needs.
Virgin Games Review
New Player Welcome Offers
Virgin Games knows that one size doesn’t fit all, that’s why they created a new player welcome offer for slot spinners and online bingo lovers. New players can deposit a minimum of £10 to get free bingo tickets worth up to £50, or they can deposit the same amount and opt for 30 free games on the hit online slot game, Double Bubble. Both the free spins and the free bingo tickets expire within 30 days of being allocated to the account, and further restrictions apply on what you can win via the freebies!
Virgin Games is owned by Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd
Virgin Games is officially licenced from Richard Branson’s unmissable global franchise, which is targeted at UK players. The company initially launched in 2003, but in 2013, the online gambling company was acquired by Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd; just two years before Monopoly Casino was brought into the Gamesys fold. The Gamesys Group, which was founded in 2001, now has several successful subsidiaries and a 1,500+ employee strong workforce. In 2020, they raked in a total revenue of £727.7 million, but an even bigger year for the fast-growing iGaming entity came in 2021 when Gamesys was purchased by the American Casino brand operator, Bally – which goes a fair way in explaining why you will see plenty of Bally content promoted at Virgin Games!
Since Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd’s acquisition of Virgin Games, the online casino has started to pick up iGaming awards at an impressive rate. Just a few of the most prestigious awards include The Bingo Port Player’s Choice Award for being the best overall online slot site in 2022 and EGR’s award for being the Bingo Operator of the Year. As you can probably deduce from the name, Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd is a Gibraltar-based sub-division of Gamesys, however, UK players do get the assurance of the casino being fully licenced and monitored by the UK Gambling Commission.
Virgin Games Monthly Promotions
Forget your usual generic online casino perks, because Virgin Games blows the competition out of the water. Being the officially licenced casino for Virgin, loyal members at the casino can rack up comp points, or V*Points, and spend them on anything from Virgin spa days to Virgin rally driving experiences to flying club miles! All of that and more is available to the most loyal members. However, the loyalty scheme is not free for all to join; players will be invited to become a Virgin Games Plus member on a case-by-case basis. Other perks via Virgin Games plus include a dedicated VIP support team, the infamous Box Bonanza games, monthly prizes, special gifts throughout the year and some sneak previews of the exclusive content.
Until you are in that ultra-exclusive and high-flying club, the regular bonus features are slightly limited. The daily free games, found on all of the Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd sites, are available to regularly depositing players, however, at this stage in the game, they hardly feel new or refreshing. Nevertheless, the daily free games include Tiki’s Catch of the Day, Search for the Phoenix, Rainbow Riches Daily Rainbows and Doubly Bubbly. By playing these games for free, you can grab some bonus cash, or win even more free spins!
Virgin Games Pros and Cons
Pros:
• A VIP scheme that is worthy of high-rollers.
• Multi-award-winning online casino
Cons:
• Lack of bonus promotions for players outside of the loyalty club.
• The free spin welcome offer could be vastly improved.
Featured Slots and Casino Games
There are several reasons why Virgin Games managed to garner the title of the best overall slots provider, according to Bingo Port, in 2022. Just a few of them include the vast array of iGaming developers that contribute to the game library, the Double Daily Jackpot games, and the epic array of officially licenced slot games from popular franchises. Some of the top online video slot games at the 5-star casino include the official Guns N Roses online slot game, Lady Earth, Thunderstruck 2, Ancient Fortunes: Zeus, Immortal Romance, Jurassic World and Jack In a Pot. If slot games aren’t your thing, Virgin Games created their very own digital Vegas with the live casino and video casino content. Here, some of the most popular games include Bond Street Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, Lightning Blackjack Live and Virgin Games Roulette Live.
Instead of just offering a few poker tables to join in the live casino lobby, Virgin Games holds a number of poker tournaments; the most exciting of which can allow players to win up to £100k. Players of online bingo can also snag similarly life-changing jackpots, or enjoy some slightly more casual fun with the selection of Slingo Originals titles. Some of the top Slingo titles include Slingo Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Slingo Sweet Bonanza, Slingo Reel King and Slingo Britan’s Got Talent.
Deposit and Withdrawal Methods
Members can deposit a minimum of £10 via debit card, Apple Pay or PayPal. The minimum withdrawal is just as low, and for PayPal withdrawals, the turnaround time for transactions to be complete is 24 hours. With bank transfers and debit card withdrawals, members could be waiting up to 3 business days.
Virgin Games Customer Support and License
Customer support is available around the clock at Virgin Games, so, night or day, you can expect an almost immediate reply when using the live chat service. As the online casino belongs to the portfolio of Gamesys Gibraltar Ltd, it is licenced by the UK Gambling Commission under licence, 38905.
Virgin Games – The Verdict
There are a few aspects of Virgin Games which make you wonder if all the awards that they have picked up in recent years boil down to brand recognition, such as the lack of banking partners and the even greater scarcity of bonus perks for regular players that are yet to work their way into the exclusive loyalty club. However, the state-of-the-art platform and the selection of content decidedly work in Virgin Games’ favour.
Even More About Virgin Games
The Changing Tides Within the Virgin Group
Some Virgin ventures are more promising and profitable than others; while Virgin Games has been making waves in the iGaming industry, Virgin Galactic has almost crashed and burnt in the billionaire space race. Recently, the Financial Times got the scoop on how Richard Branson has definitively ruled out further investments in Virgin Galactic UK. Apparently, he still has a lot of love for the enterprise, which was founded in 2004, but his recently reduced bankroll due to the cost implications of COVID-19 means that he can no longer go up against the likes of Bezos and Musk. Branson still holds a fondness for the technology which was innovated to facilitate commercial space flights; however, the lossmaking project has become akin to throwing funds down the cosmic drain.
This news of Branson stepping away from Virgin Galactic follows the announcement of the redundancies made within the company, which were made in the hopes of having enough funds to take a commercial flight to the edge of space in 2025. Currently, Virgin Galactic UK has enough funds to see them through to 2026, when Delta is expected to join the enterprise. Although, it is likely that investors will still be contacted to cough up some cash at some point in 2025.If you have stayed tuned into the happenings within the Virgin Group, which includes all of Branson’s Virgin-branded companies, including Virgin Games, you may have noticed that Branson seems a little less concerned with making money these days. Instead of spending the majority of his time on publicity stunts and major business acquisitions, he’s now a dedicated philanthropist; by his own account, he spends up to 90% of his time engaging in some form of philanthropy. However, Branson himself has stated that there is the potential for Virgin to pick up where it left off in 2019 in the UK rail industry. In addition to his philanthropy work, Branson also has ample enthusiasm for environmentalism, particularly the sustainable fuels industry. He is a firm believer in reducing reliance on imported gas and oil and hopes an open line of communication will be made between the transport industry and the government.
The Latest Virgin Games and Virgin Group Adverts
Aside from the Virgin Games advert on responsible gambling which aired just over a year ago, the Virgin-branded casino has been quiet on the TV ad front. In the responsible gambling ad, you will meet a ‘modern-day vampire’ discussing the challenges he faces and the ways in which he overcomes them. To get around the whole not being able to expose himself to sunlight issue, he moved to Britain to ‘make things easier for himself’, due to the lack of UV rays. He uses the same line of ‘making things easier’ thinking when it comes to his gambling habits, by setting deposit limits, and knowing when to take a break, which is made easier by the option to pause his account.
The Virgin Group may want to think twice about investing a substantial sum of money into filming and producing adverts after one of their Virgin Media adverts advertising wi-fi speeds was banned by the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) for misleading viewers at the end of 2023. The advert claimed that the broadband provider could guarantee the fastest wi-fi in every room, or they would give their customers their money back. The claim was only investigated after one of Virgin Media’s biggest competitors, Vodafone, complained about the ad. The plot thickened when the ASA discovered that the ad was nothing more than a publicity stunt. Even though, in the fine print, prospective customers were advised that they may not qualify for the refund, this didn’t wash with the ASA, much to the disappointment of Virgin Media; the broadband network still maintained that they do, in fact, offer higher minimum speeds as a guarantee.
Virgin Games and Virgin Group Sponsorships
Virgin Media and Virgin Bet are taking the lead in terms of Virgin Group sponsorship deals, leaving Virgin Games in the Dust. In December 2023, Virgin Media was named as the official title sponsor for the FAI Sports Programme; to those unfamiliar, that is the eSports Programme, Football Association of Ireland. After signing the sponsorship deal with Virgin Media, the eLeague of Ireland (ELOI) will go under the name Virgin Media ELOI for the next two years. The winners of the Virgin Media ELOI will have an opportunity to go for gold in the FC Pro World Championship, which is set to take place in June 2024. This isn’t the first time Virgin Media has made itself known in the world of eSports; in 2022, the broadband network became the official sponsor for WYLDE, an Irish eSports Organisation, and in July 2023, Virgin Media created a pop-up gaming space in London’s O2 Arena.
