JackpotJoy Sister Sites 2024
Monopoly Casino
JackpotJoy is something of an oddity in the Gamesys Operations family of casino sites because it’s an original concept that Gamesys came up with themselves. All of the other JackpotJoy sister sites have ties to well-known properties, be they casino properties or entertainment properties from the outside world. As the perfect case in point, here’s Monopoly Casino. It’s hard to imagine there’s a person in the UK who hasn’t played the Monopoly board game at least once, so this casino has an instant brand familiarity to anyone who comes across it. That’s why we’ve ranked it first in our list of Jackpotjoy sister sites. If you’ve been around the online casino scene for a while, you’ll likely already know that there’s a series of official Monopoly online slots and iGames. You’ll find every single one of those official Monopoly casino games at this JackpotJoy sister site – plus a whole lot more.
Monopoly Casino is not a one-trick pony. This casino is packed with online slots, but it also has a fully functional live casino with real dealers, a section for bingo, another section for Slingo and even a dedicated area for playing poker. Poker is the one part of the site where you won’t find any Monopoly-themed games. If you want to play Monopoly Bingo or Monopoly Slingo, the games are right there for the taking. You can even play free games at this site for as long as you wish. You won’t win any money for doing so, but they’re fun to play and give you an idea of what the casino has to offer. New players at Monopoly Casino have a choice of welcome offers, with a deposit of £10 getting them either £50 of free bingo tickets or thirty free spins on one of the official Monopoly slots. Unusually for a casino in the modern age, these bonuses don’t come with any wagering requirements attached to them. We should probably point out that there are only around one hundred online slots at Monopoly Casino, but there isn’t a massive range of slots at any of the JackpotJoy sister sites. This is a range of casinos that favours quality over quantity, and quality isn’t a concern. Most modern payment and withdrawal methods are catered for at Monopoly Casino, and you can get in touch with customer service agents around the clock. Monopoly Casino is the benchmark against which all other JackpotJoy sister sites are measured – but falls just short of eclipsing JackpotJoy itself.
Virgin Games
The very fact that Virgin Games exists on the Gamesys Operations network is further proof of what we said about Monopoly Casino – this is a network where big brands come to play. Every casino network in the UK would have loved to have an official Virgin-branded site under its umbrella, but Gamesys Operations is the network that got it. It’s another standout site in a collection of standout JackpotJoy sister sites. Much like Monopoly, Virgin is a brand that enjoys a high profile in the UK. It’s almost impossible to live in the country in the 21st century and not have any interactions with Virgin. Even if you’re not riding on Virgin trains you might be using Virgin to access the internet or provide coverage to your mobile phone. It’s a big company founded and run by a billionaire – which is why it makes it all thje more surprising that the Virgin Games website is a little bit plain and basic.
Virgin Games has been advertised on television, which is a privilege that’s been afforded to a couple of the other JackpotJoy sister sites. Because of that, it probably doesn’t have to worry too much about whether the Virgin Games site is a visual knockout. People are going to find the site and play at it anyway. However, it could and should look better than this plain white site, which is devoid of anything that might give it personality. Even the welcome offer at Virgin Games is plain, with a £10 deposit garnering thirty free spins on selected slots for newcomers. There are other JackpotJoy sister sites that do better with welcome offers, so if such things are important to you it might be an idea to look at one of the other sites in the range before laying your money down at this one. It isn’t all bad news, though – Virgin Games has an expanded portfolio of more than 400 online slots and still has the same extended range of other casino attractions you’ll find at Monopoly Casino. It’s actually a bigger and more well-rounded casino than Monopoly Casino, but you have to look past the retro design to find that out. When you do, you’ll find out that Virgin Games has a long-term VIP reward program that involves allocating points to players every time they deposit and spend money. Once a balance of points has been built up, the points can be converted into cash and then either withdrawn or used to play casino games at the site.
Rainbow Riches Casino
There was a time when Rainbow Riches wasn’t a familiar name to online slots and casino players in the UK. It now feels like a very long time ago. Rainbow Riches, which was created by Barcrest, is now everywhere. There’s a strong chance that even if you were to walk into a brick-and-mortar casino and head for the slots, you’d see the Rainbow Riches logo featured prominently. What started as a single Irish-themed online slots game is now a whole empire. There are now more than a dozen official Rainbow Riches slots along with Rainbow Riches Slingo, Rainbow Riches Bingo, and a few more niche variants that have more in common with video games than they do with your average casino game. Rainbow Riches is now a brand, and you’ll find every single Rainbow Riches branded game here at Rainbow Riches Casino. You’ll also find them at some of the other JackpotJoy sister sites, but don’t let that distract you that this is definitely the place to come if you’re a dedicated Rainbow Riches fan. The casino was advertised on television for the first time in 2021 (complete with, for some reason, a Scooby Doo-style van), so the casino is only likely to get bigger in years to come.
Because Rainbow Riches slots and games are the primary focus of this casino, other products take a back seat. There are only one hundred slots here, for example, but even then, we’re talking about well-known slots that were made and launched by credible, big-name providers. If one hundred slots aren’t enough, Rainbow Riches still offers the same platform of live casino and table games you’ll find at the other top JackpotJoy sister sites. Our only slight niggle is that the promotional and welcome offers at this casino are still poor when you compare them to the biggest casino sites in the UK. Thirty free spins aren’t much of a welcome, and the lack of a matched deposit makes the casino feel a little miserly. If we wanted to be really picky, we’d say that the site isn’t especially well-designed either, with a tiny font and a dull choice of colours. It looks fine on a mobile display, but if you were ever to visit Rainbow Riches Casino on a mobile device, you might find yourself squinting a little. Presuming that you’re able to read the text, you’ll see that Rainbow Riches Casino offers cashback against losses with certain casino games and even occasionally dishes out physical prizes like televisions and motorbikes. You have to be a big spender to become eligible for those rewards, though.
Double Bubble Bingo
Double Bubble Bingo is the most similar to JackpotJoy of all the JackpotJoy sister sites. We’re not just saying that because it doesn’t have any big-brand connections. Double Bubble Bingo has a similar layout, a similar portfolio of games, and a similar collection of promotions. If it weren’t for the garish pink-and-green colour scheme, JackpotJoy and Double Bubble Bingo could be twins. If you’ve come here looking for JackpotJoy sister sites because you want to find a casino site as similar to JackpotJoy as possible, Double Bubble Bingo probably ought to be your first port of call. You might want to put sunglasses on before you check the site out, though – it’s extremely bright. To the best of our knowledge, the theme was inspired by a casino game which was, in turn, inspired by a brand of chewing gum that was popular in the 1980s and the 1990s. It’s an odd choice of theme, but as Double Bubble Bingo is gaining popularity faster than any of the other JackpotJoy sister sites, we’d have to concede that it’s working.
The name “Double Bubble Bingo” makes it sound like this is a casino site dedicated to bingo at the expense of all other things. Don’t make that mistake. If anything, the name of the site is misleading. You’ll find bingo sites at Double Bubble Bingo if that’s what you want, but they’re not the only form of entertainment on offer at the site and nor are there more bingo rooms here than there are at other JackpotJoy sister sites. Double Bubble Bingo is a fully tricked-out casino and has the same iGaming categories as the other big-hitters on the Gamesys Operations Limited network. That means Slingo players, slots spinners and live casino fans are all catered for. So are people who like to be rewarded for their spending and their loyalty. Like Rainbow Riches Casino, Double Bubble Bingo occasionally hands out physical prizes to players who spend and win the most. On top of that, Double Bubble Bingo hosts special “Double Days” promotions twice a month – once on the 11th and once on the 22nd. If you visit the casino site on either of those days, you’ll find that all of the promotions and offers have been supercharged for 24 hours only. If you miss it, you might miss out. On the other hand, if you’d rather not wait until those special days each month, you can take advantage of daily promotions in all of the site’s bingo rooms. Double Bubble Bingo didn’t become one of the most popular new casino sites in the UK by accident – it was built by experts and performs accordingly.
Megaways Casino
We don’t know whether it’s really accurate or fair to say that Megaways Casino is an online casino site with big-brand ties. Megaways – the slots mechanism designed by Big Time Gaming that brought about a revolution in the iGaming industry – isn’t a brand; it’s a feature. Big Time Gaming has since leased the mechanism out to almost any casino network company that wants it, but it’s still just a feature. It sometimes feels like almost every new online slots game that comes to the marketplace is fitted with the Megaways system, and some of the greatest old-school slots of all time have found new leases of life with a coat of Megaways paint. From Rainbow Riches to Starburst and everywhere in between, there’s a Megaways version of them all. Nowhere on the internet will you find more Megaways slots than at Megaways Casino. That’s not to say that Megaways slots aren’t available at all of the JackpotJoy sister sites because they absolutely are, but Megaways Casino is the site that specialises in them.
If you’ve read this far, you can probably already guess at what the other gaming and promotional content at Megaways Casino looks like. The welcome offer is still a fairly miserable thirty free spins in return for a £10 deposit. The non-slots options at the site still include Slingo, poker, and live casino games – although curiously, there aren’t any bingo rooms at Megaways Casino. It’s the only one of the JackpotJoy sister sites not to offer bingo, and we’re not sure of the reasons why. Perhaps it’s because there’s no such thing as Megaways bingo! Nevertheless, Megaways Casino made its mark on the online casino world when it was named “Best New Slots Site” at the SlotsWise Awards in 2021. If you’ve never played a Megaways online slots game before, Megaways Casino is the perfect place to come and try one for the first time. That’s because there’s a “free games” section at Megaways Casino, and it includes a few free-to-play Megaways titles. Obviously, it’s impossible to win money from the free games, but by playing them, you’ll be able to get a sense of how the slots work, how dynamic and volatile they are, and (most importantly) how much it’s possible to win from them if you’re lucky enough to get the bonus features rolling and the avalanche wins feature hands you one win after another. Once you’re comfortable with that, the whole Megaways world is open to you, whether that’s at Megaways Casino or anywhere else in the JackpotJoy sister sites family!
Jackpotjoy News
: The reviewers behind the website Just Bookies have updated their review of Jackpotjoy to iterate that they no longer recommend the platform. This revision stems from a combination of poor customer feedback and less-than-satisfactory business interactions. Historically, Jackpotjoy was celebrated for its dynamic gaming options and commendable community engagement, but recent assessments tell a different story. User reviews consistently describe the platform with negative terms such as “scam” and “poor customer service,” indicating a significant decline in user satisfaction and trust. Additionally, Jackpotjoy holds a dismal one-star rating on Trustpilot, based on nearly 600 reviews. This rating reflects a broader discontent among users, many of whom accuse the site of failing to uphold fair play and transparency. The negative reviews are so overwhelming that they overshadow a sparse number of overly positive assessments, which appear out of sync with general player experiences.
Further tarnishing its reputation, Just Bookies highlights that Jackpotjoy’s engagement with business partners has also deteriorated, citing a lack of honesty in their dealings, particularly around compliance claims. Reportedly, this has led to a cooling of relationships and an erosion of trust that once supported collaborative efforts. The review also notes that Jackpotjoy seems to have stagnated, relying on outdated marketing and not innovating in a market that demands constant renewal and excitement. In light of these issues, Just Bookies advises against using Jackpotjoy sister sites for online gaming, suggesting that potential players look elsewhere to spend their leisure time and money. The site’s inability to evolve its offerings or adequately respond to the grievances of both players and partners has positioned it poorly in an increasingly competitive and user-focused online gaming industry.
: On the 10th of October, Which Bingo announced that all the Jackpotjoy sister sites have launched the ‘big nights in’ promo. The initiative aims to liven up cooler autumn nights with a variety of gaming options tailored to suit everyone’s tastes, whether you’re a fan of slots, bingo, or chat games. The Big Nights In promotion spans across three specific nights over the coming months, with the initial event kicking off on the 11th of October. The promotion continues with more gaming excitement on the 15th of November and concludes with the final event on the 6th of December. This series is designed as the perfect companion for those seeking a cosy night in during the colder months.
For bingo fans, the promotion includes a plethora of special events. Starting from 7 pm, Snap Bingo offers players the chance to win up to 10,000 times their ticket price, and for every five tickets bought, two more are given for free. From 8 pm to 10 pm, the excitement peaks with the Superlinks 75 Super Jackpot game, where the jackpot prize doubles to £5,000, and the ball calls increase, boosting players’ chances of winning. Slot players are not left out, with all-day events on the 11th of October featuring a Slotmasters tournament that promises a lucrative one-night prize and a double hourly jackpot on Red Tiger Gaming slots from 3 pm until midnight. Moreover, each site will host the Box Bonanza promotion, tailored to bring unique offers to players at Virgin Games, Double Bubble Bingo, and JackpotJoy.
: Judging by the Trustpilot reviews, not many players are feeling the joy at Jackpotjoy lately. The recent feedback on the iGaming site paints a rather grim picture, predominantly marked by dissatisfaction and frustration among its users. One player noted a lack of returns despite significant investments, describing the experience as a relentless drain without even minor wins to maintain engagement. This sentiment was echoed by several other users, with one even going so far as to label the site a “scam” after encountering numerous hurdles in the verification process that blocked access to their funds. Another user highlighted the unrewarding nature of the platform, pointing out the absence of bonuses and the feeling of being unrewarded for loyalty, which has been a recurring theme in many reviews.
The few positive comments noted the site’s enjoyment factor and some level of satisfaction with the available games and occasional wins, but these were few and far between. A particularly telling review came from a long-time user who reminisced about better days when the site was more generous and user-friendly. This player’s experience reflects a change that many seem to agree on—a shift towards less favourable conditions for players, which might suggest new ownership or policy changes that have not been well received. Moreover, the reports of technical issues with the game’s mechanics, such as stuttering spins and questionable RNG outcomes, add to the growing concerns about the fairness and operation of the site. These reviews collectively suggest that while Jackpotjoy offers a diverse selection of games, the enjoyment of these games is severely hampered by the platform’s failure to deliver a fair play experience and an effective reward system.
: Glitzy Bingo recently published a fascinating blog to document the early days of Jackpotjoy and where it stands today in 2024. This extensive piece traces Jackpotjoy’s journey from its humble beginnings in 2001, under the pioneering vision of Noel Hayden and the aegis of Intercontinental Online Gaming Ltd, to its current status as a major player in the online gaming industry. Originally, Jackpotjoy was one of the UK’s first online bingo sites, capitalising on the untapped potential of bringing the traditional British bingo hall experience to the digital sphere. The blog details how Jackpotjoy expanded its offerings beyond bingo, incorporating a diverse range of online casino games and slots, thus cementing its reputation as a dynamic gaming hub. The Gamesys Group, also founded by Hayden, played a crucial role in this expansion.
The partnership with Gamesys not only provided innovative gaming technology but also enabled Jackpotjoy to offer a unique suite of games developed in-house, which were integral to its growth and appeal. Key collaborations with brands like Sun Bingo and the eventual transition of some operations to new industry players like Playtech and Pragmatic Play illustrate the evolving landscape of online gaming, with Jackpotjoy at the forefront of this transformation. The narrative also highlights the brand’s knack for marketing and community engagement, bolstered by celebrity endorsements from figures such as Barbara Windsor and Paddy McGuinness, which helped solidify its presence in the UK market. Innovation remains at the heart of Jackpotjoy as evidenced by its recent ventures into sports betting and continuous updates to its gaming catalogue, ensuring it remains competitive and relevant.
: On the 16th of July, Loquax Bingo introduced its members to Play Off Palace, which is exclusively available at Jackpotjoy. This unique feature consists of two special bingo rooms, one operating daily and the other weekly, offering players the chance to win substantial cash prizes. In the weekly room, there’s even a grand prize of £1,000 for a full house. To access these exclusive games, players must first earn tickets by participating in regular bingo sessions marked with a ‘PP’ symbol. Winning in these sessions before 7:45 PM grants six tickets for that day’s Play Off Palace Daily game at 8:45 PM, and six for the following Sunday’s Weekly game at 9:15 PM. Players can collect a maximum of 72 tickets for each session, providing ample opportunities to join the games, which take place in the Sapphire Room among other selected bingo sessions.
These Play Off Palace games, once tickets are claimed in the respective rooms, offer prizes that range from £30 for a single line to £1,000 for a full house, with winnings shared if there are multiple winners. Jackpotjoy’s Play Off Palace is not the only offering of its kind within Bally’s brand network. Double Bubble Bingo hosts a similar scheme in The Candy Club, paralleling the Sapphire Room’s setup and Virgin Games maintains the Play Off Palace for daily and weekly rewards but calls their 90-ball room The Clubhouse. Despite these similarities, it appears that Bally’s brands have streamlined their bingo offerings, possibly to increase room activity and jackpot sizes.
: The Jackpotjoy sister sites have recently launched in-house blogs, and one of the latest posts on Jackpotjoy explores how you can support your local charities by hosting bingo fundraising events. The blog details how bingo, often seen as a game of chance, is emerging as a vibrant way to raise funds for various causes, bringing communities together for a night of fun and philanthropy. So, if you’re searching for a unique way to give back while enjoying some light-hearted entertainment, a bingo fundraiser could be the perfect solution. This type of event kills two birds with one stone, enabling people to support good causes while fostering a community spirit. According to the writer, bingo fundraisers are surprisingly simple to organise and can attract a diverse audience, from young families to seasoned players. The appeal lies in its accessibility and the minimal investment required—basic supplies like bingo cards, dabbers, and a venue are all you need to get started.
This low-cost, high-return model ensures that your fundraising efforts are effective without straining your budget. Whether you’re part of a school, a sports team, or simply a group of friends eager to make a difference, hosting a bingo fundraiser is a viable option. Non-profits, educational institutions, and community groups have long used bingo to raise funds for various needs, including equipment, trips, and essential services. The flexibility of bingo fundraisers means that anyone with a passion for community service can get involved. The key to a successful event lies in careful planning—selecting a suitable venue, promoting the event widely, securing appealing prizes, offering refreshments, and creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
: Loquax Bingo recently shared details about the free Daily Paper Game available to all members at Jackpotjoy’s sister sites. This engaging game, launched after Jackpotjoy and Sun Bingo parted ways in August 2016, has become a popular feature. Initially, Jackpotjoy reacted to the split by rebranding the Winning Headlines slot to Paper Win and introducing the Daily Paper game, which offers players a chance to win up to 50 free spins. The Daily Paper game joined a roster of other free games at Jackpotjoy, including Doubly Bubbly, Tiki’s Catch Of The Day, and Rainbow Riches Daily Rainbows. You can find these games under the ‘Free’ tab at any Gamesys brand, but it’s important to note that you can only play one free game per week per site. Occasionally, Jackpotjoy might allow two games to be played in a week, though this has become rare.
To participate in the Daily Paper game, players must have made a one-time deposit of £10. Once qualified, players can access the game by selecting it from the ‘Free’ section on the Jackpotjoy website. The game involves selecting six squares from a 10×9 grid each day. These squares may reveal symbols like cherries, bars, free holidays, sports, celeb gossip, and TV Fun. Some squares may not contain any symbols, resulting in no wins for that selection. The goal is to collect enough of the same symbol to win a prize. The prizes in the Daily Paper game vary based on the symbols collected. For example, three cherry symbols will earn players five free spins, while ten TV Fun symbols can win the top prize of 50 spins.
: In its latest review, WhichBingo reaffirms its commitment to providing up-to-date and comprehensive evaluations by revisiting Jackpotjoy. The updated review details the enticing welcome offer at the benevolent jackpot-focused casino, where new members have the choice between two bonuses upon their initial £10 deposit: either 30 free spins on the Double Bubble slot or 50 free bingo tickets, applicable in selected bingo rooms. As pointed out by the casino experts at WhichBingo, this flexibility in the welcome bonus caters to diverse player preferences, highlighting Jackpotjoy’s dedication to a personalised gaming experience. The review also notes the absence of wagering requirements on these offers, allowing players to retain their winnings without restrictions, an appealing aspect that enhances the overall value of playing at Jackpotjoy.
Furthermore, the reviewers found that the site boasts a variety of ongoing promotions that enrich the user experience. These include daily free games like Doubly Bubbly and Rainbow Riches: Daily Rainbows, where players can win spins and cash prizes without additional spending. The Slot Masters tournaments present an exciting challenge for slot game lovers, offering multiplayer competitions with significant prize opportunities. Moreover, Jackpotjoy’s promotions are praised for their simplicity and accessibility, often requiring just a simple opt-in to participate. This ease of engagement, combined with the platform’s no-wager bonuses and the comprehensive selection of games, underscores WhichBingo’s updated review, showcasing Jackpotjoy as a user-friendly site with generous offers that cater to both new and returning players. The 4.9 / 5 rating is a sure-fire sign of WhichBingo’s approval of the platform which notably always finds a way to bring value and excitement to players.

Jackpot Joy is owned by Gamesys Operations Ltd
Gamesys Operations Ltd easily sets itself apart from other casino software providers; they have had 18 years to perfect the art of satisfying slot spinners and online bingo lovers. Jackpot Joy: Pros and Cons
Pros:
• Big-name iGaming partners.
• Free daily games for all regularly depositing members.
Cons:
• Limited deposit options.
• The welcome offer could be vastly improved for online slots.
Featured Slots and Casino Games
Many online casinos struggle to serve online bingo lovers, slot game fanatics and live casino enthusiasts equally, refreshingly, Jackpot Joy is an exception to this rule. In 2019, they were voted as the best online bingo operator by EGR, and it isn’t hard to see why. Bingo tickets start from just 1p, but there is always the option to play with as much as you like! Additionally, Jackpot Joy didn’t stop at offering 90-ball and 75-ball bingo variants. They also laid out a smorgasbord of special bingo games, including Super Links bingo, which comes with a £5k prize fund and Play of Palace Daily, which has £500 as the top prize.
There are over 300 online slot games to choose from, and that may only be 10% of what you will find in the game libraries’ of some online casino brands, but each of the titles at Jackpot Joy made the cut for a reason. The Daily Double Jackpot games from Red Tiger Gaming are always worth a peruse, at the time of writing, they included 5 Families, Arcade Bomb, Jack in a Pot, Gonzo’s Quest Megaways, Lucky Little Devils and Reel King Mega.
The casino and live casino categories are all well-stocked with everything from stripped black classic titles, such as 10p Roulette to innovative and high-octane HD live game shows, such as Cash or Crash. Poker players weren’t forgotten about either. Players can gun for £100,000 in the Wild Seat Poker tournaments or go after some mystery prizes. Last but not least, Jackpot Joy is also a hot location for lovers of Slingo Originals games. Some of the top Slingo titles include Deal or No Deal Slingo, Red Hot Slingo, Slingo Advance and Book of Slingo.
Deposit and Withdrawal Methods
Jackpot Joy doesn’t have the widest range of banking partners. However, with the ability to deposit and withdraw via Apple Pay, PayPal and Visa Debit, that shouldn’t be an issue for all too many players. The minimum deposit amount is set to a very reasonable £10, as is the minimum withdrawal amount. Even more agreeably, the average withdrawal time is 1 – 3 working days, including the 24 hours pending time.
Jackpot Joy Customer Support and License
24 / 7 customer support is a big part of the attraction at Jackpot Joy. Yet, with the interactive and informational FAQ pages, there should be few reasons to get in contact with the casino. The customer care team is available via live chat, email and telephone. For the fastest resolution to your query, the freephone option is advised.
The UKGC makes sure that everything at the casino is shipshape and above board, as it is licenced under Gamesys Operations Ltd’s licence 38905.
Jackpot Joy – The Verdict
Jackpot Joy is very much capable of delivering exactly what it says on the tin. It is perfect for the kind of player who likes to constantly explore different kinds of iGaming content – no online casino operator serves bingo players and slot spinners better simultaneously. The free daily games and their transparency when it comes to their terms and conditions are definitely the cherries on the casino cake.
The only real room for improvement at this casino site is within the welcome offer and their banking flexibility. If the welcome offer was just as generous to the online slot players as it was to those wanting to grab the free bingo tickets and they included a few more banking options, it would be a near-perfect site. Especially for the way they didn’t forget about poker players when they were deciding which games should come with massive jackpots!
Even More About JackpotJoy
Jackpotjoy in the Press
As you will find if you keep scrolling down this page, Jackpotjoy has always taken a proactive approach to marketing. However, one article published in 2020 by This Is Money proved their commitment to social responsibility. If you wondered why you didn’t see any of their larger-than-life ads or idents when you sat in front of the TV during the lockdowns, that is because the owner of the Jackpotjoy sister sites, including Virgin Games, decided to cease all TV and radio advertising during this period. Gamesys acknowledged that given the circumstances of the series of lockdowns, there would be vulnerable customers and children bored at home, and by advertising their online bingo platform, they could be leaving people at risk. Gamesys’ online gambling brands also cut back on digital ads and marketing materials sent via post and email.
Jackpotjoy Adverts
In February 2011, Jackpotjoy started making the most of their TV sponsorship deal with what was once one of the nation’s favourite TV game shows, Deal or No Deal. There was a series of memorable creative features and TV idents, but none of them quite stood out as much as the adverts in which Barbara Windsor, from Eastenders and Carry On fame, was depicted as a puppet alongside Jack and Joy, the Jackpotjoy mascots. In the ad, the puppets sprang out of the infamous Deal or No Deal boxes, which was quite the inventive tie-in.
When Adele Lawton, the head of Jackpotjoy, commented on the creative features, she described them as the pinnacle of advertainment; she also emphasised that the ads are just a taste of how the online bingo brand always endeavours to entertain. Notably, Jackpotjoy also stepped back from being the sponsor of Loose Women on ITV to give Women’s Aid, one of the biggest domestic abuse charities in the UK, the opportunity to advertise in their place.
Jackpotjoy Sponsorships and Brand Ambassadors
Over the years, Jackpotjoy has had quite the presence on our TV screens; when the brand isn’t creating attention-piquing events, it is sponsoring some of the most-watched TV shows, including Britain’s Got Talent, X-Factor, and Celebrity Juice. Not content with this kind of presence, Jackpotjoy has also been the subject of product placement on popular soaps, including Coronation Street and Eastenders, which has helped soap fans to familiarise themselves with the bingo brand.
In 2011, the online bingo brand put its year-long contract with Deal or No Deal on Channel 4 to good use by airing an ‘ad break game’, which was a clever way of Jackpotjoy ‘recruiting’ new members. The ad break game was unsurprisingly highly efficacious, given that it gave new members the chance to win up to £250,000! To participate in the promo, new players were tasked with the mission of creating a new account, signing in every day that Deal or No Deal aired on their screens, and collecting seven numbers. With the correct sequence of numbers, players could grab life-changing sums of cash.
Clearly, Jackpotjoy didn’t have much loyalty to the Deal or No Deal gameshow, as in 2014, they jumped on the hype of the ‘newer gameshow model’, The Million Pound Drop. After the deal was brokered by Maxus Partnerships, a series of ident started flooding onto TV screens up and down the UK. In collaboration with the production company, Sassy Films, the adverts promoted the website’s jackpots. The ad campaign stretched for eight weeks as Jackpotjoy attempted to reach women between the ages of 35 and 54 who enjoy spending their spare time gambling online. Gamesys’ Global brand director, Paul Troy, hoped that their summer campaign would align with the brand’s values, which predominantly revolve around entertainment, fun, and, of course, gigantic jackpots.
In 2017, Paddy McGuinness was appointed as a brand ambassador for the gambling brand. The English comedian and TV presenter, best known for his work alongside Peter Kay and hosting Take Me Out, his face and persona were enlisted to ‘update the market’. His appointment as a brand ambassador followed Barbara Windsor’s reign as one of the most recognisable ambassadors. To give McGuinness a warm welcome, Jackpotjoy pulled out all the stops by launching an integrated advertising campaign. One ad, in particular, showed McGuinness decorating his ‘home’ with royal decorations to signify his endorsement from the usurped ‘Queen of Bingo’, Barbara Windsor.
